As I was thinking about Christ’s sacrifice for me, what He has done on the cross, this song by Darlene Zschech came to my mind. Although I have known it for quite some time, I had never really meditated on it well. The lyrics has such a deep meaning that really brings us back to the foot of the cross.
“Thank you for the cross, Lord.
Thank you for the price you paid.
Bearing all my sin and shame, in love you came
And gave Amazing Grace.
Thank you for this love, Lord.
Thank you for the nail-pierced hands.
Wash me in Your cleansing flow, now all I know…
Your forgiveness and embrace.
Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne.
We crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious!
High and lifted up
Jesus, Son of God.
The darling of Heaven, crucified…
Worthy is the Lamb.”
I sometimes wonder how great the pain must have been for Him to carry the sins of the whole world, from beginning to end, but its way beyond my comprehension! The Son of God, pure and holy, to carry all the sins, shame and dirt of the whole world? Waw, if this is not love, I don’t know what is.
12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them….
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” ~John.13:12-17, 34-35~
I just don’t know what to say, but knowing that the Lamb who was lead “to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,” (Isaiah.53:7) is now seated at the right hand of the Father, I just echo the song “WORTHY IS THE LAMB!”
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” ~Revelation.5:12~
