Finding the balance

Lately, I have been wondering how Jesus must have felt when He’s been considered as ‘The Guy with all the answers’. People flooded to Him to be healed from their sickness and for their questions to be answered. The need was indeed so great and overwhelming.

Today, despite of more advanced technology and more readily available materials, the human needs still remain the same. These past few months have been quite overwhelming for me too. Keeping up with my studies, friends and other responsibilities. Very often I felt overwhelmed of the need that’s around me and of my own problems- the burden does get heavy. And very often I felt guilty if I was not able to help some one in some way or another. I found it difficult to know where to set the boundaries. These things weighed me down, when with some things I was supposed to let God be God and trust Him.

A couple of weeks ago, I had a chat with one of our church elders. She said to me, “it is hard to set the boundaries right on how much you can do, but look at Jesus, He didn’t go round and heal everyone 24/7. He took time out to spend with His Father, He didn’t consider it selfishness.” That was a real eye opener for me, Jesus said,

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew.11:28-30
