Thankfulness


ReflectionRecently I have found myself mostly focusing on the negatives rather than the positives and the good things in my life. And more than often I heard from my non-Christian flat-mate telling me that I complain a lot! I was glad that she was honest with me, because it helped me to point myself to God and ask for help, but at the same time it really upset me that I wasn’t the light that God wanted me to be. ūüė¶¬†

Today I learnt that even your problems could be your idols, when you give them a place greater than God in your heart. Thankfulness and contentment with what you have is the key to a joyful heart, which makes the spirit cheerful and radiates hope to those around you. 

“A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.” – Proverbs.15:13

4¬†Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!¬†5¬†Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.¬†6¬†Do not be anxious about anything,¬†but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.¬†7¬†And the peace of God,¬†which transcends all understanding,¬†will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.8¬†Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable‚ÄĒif anything is excellent or praiseworthy‚ÄĒthink about such things.” – Philip.4:4-8
