His ability in our inability

DSC04293Often we don’t realize our inabilities until our disabilities. For example, we use our hands automatically, we don’t think too much about the amount of things we perform with our hands/ fingers, and what we may not be able to do if we didn’t have them. We don’t often thank God for the small things, but we expect everything to work instantly. At times God slows the pace by putting a disability on our way. Eg when I get a paper cut and find it hard to wash dishes or write, then I realize the importance of my fingers and how unable I am to do things of my own power. I am totally dependent on the One who has the power over everything, big and small.

I once read the following message by a preacher from India called Br. Zac Poonen

“Can you see a single star when the sun is shining? No. When the sacrifice of Jesus on Calvary becomes as bright as the sun in our minds, all our petty sacrifices will disappear like the stars in the daytime – and we won’t even call them “sacrifices” any more. If you can remember all your sacrifices, then you must be in the darkness still – for it is only at night that we can see the stars!!
Come in faith and humility and receive the righteousness of God that he offers you in Christ – and give Him all the glory for it, all the days of your life. Then you will never be a Pharisee.”

“7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.” – Philippians.3:7-11

“For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.” – Romans.11:36

From the song ‘Here in Your presence’ by New Life Worship, the line that caught me was,

“All of my gains now fade away
Every crown no longer on display, here in Your presence”
