Listen to the quite voice inside

DSC04143I usually have a habit of looking back and reflecting on how my day had been. Well today as my friend and I are in a different country to work on a project it had been interesting how we are trying to fit in and adjust to the life style. We got lost TWICE.

The first one was in the morning and while walking we got confused. There was a man passing by and I had a feeling inside that I should go and ask for direction but I didn’t, I thought we can figure it out ourselves, if we could just read the map right! We ended up walking for more than 30mins the opposite direction. It was a good walk but not along the right path, so we had to go back and start to ask people to tell us the way. It was a humbling experience.

The second one, we got the bus back home, but we weren’t sure where we should get off the bus. at one point I felt that was the place we were supposed to drop off. The bus stopped at that point, and surprisingly for a bit longer than usual, however the uncertainty was still there and my friend insisted that w continue one more stop. I felt she was wrong to go another stop but we continued. And yes we should have stopped at the previous bus stop and had to walk one stop back again!

Often God speaks to us through that quite still voice in our hearts, but more often we are too busy to do things in our own way, and too doubting to believe.

May God help us to be better listeners as we learn to hear His voice and more importantly to have the faith to respond.

11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” ~ 1 King.19:11-12

  1. What you’ve said is very true. I’ve had the same experience many times:) For hearing that voice, I think our mind and soul should be free from the sounds of the world.

  2. Yeah, I agree with you Sarah! Sometimes the sounds of the world are so loud that we struggle to hear His voice. Praying that the Holy Spirit give us sensitive ears. Blessings 🙂
